Magic Items and Cursed Items

Technology that doesn’t use magic doesn’t work properly within the boundaries of Seruverse's solar system. To replace it people enchant objects to perform similar functions. Nearly any modern machine, and many futuristic devices, can be replicated by a clever arcane engineer. Of course magic items aren't limited to mimicking technology. With the right incantation and enough mana, a magic item can be made to do just about anything.
A magic item is made when someone engraves an incantation onto an object (engravement is just the proper term, but the incantation could be painted on or sewn in). The item then has to be charged with the appropriate type of magical energy. Most creatures can only safely wield 6 magic accessories, 1 set of magic armor, and 1-2 magic weapons at a time. Using more can cause the incantations imbued into the items to conflict with each other which is never good. Some creatures can gain skills that allow them to use more than 6 though.
A magic item becomes a cursed item whenever their incantation is botched. Cursed items are usually useless and/or harmful to be around. Some cursed items have powerful effects that can be harnessed by those willing to take the risk. They're generally not worth using though.
Example Magic Items:
Flying Cloak: A feathery cloak powered by colorless magic. When activated it acts like a set of wings the wearer can use to fly with.
Maid Dress of Shame: A short and gaudy maid dress powered by crimson magic. When activated it bonds with wearer's body. The only way to remove it is for it to be damaged by a foe's attack.
Stinging Net: A net powered by yellow magic. It drains the mana from anything caught in it, and if anything snared in it tries to use magic it'll electrocute them.
Example Cursed Items
Shield of Shared Pain: A shabby shield powered by crimson magic. Holding it causes to take more damage from every kind of attack, but causes anyone that attacks you to take a small amount of magical crimson damage.
Bed of Horrible Sleep: A lovely looking bed powered by orange magic. It activates randomly repelling or attracting everything within 30 feet.
Whimsical Blaster Staff: A frilly and cute staff powered by cyan and/or magenta magic. Spells cast with it are slightly more powerful, but cost significantly more mana and/or prana to cast.
